1. Rebirth by Kim Le

Nature is damaged by human interference, such as deforestation and pollution of the sea and air caused by technology. However, technology which is already known or has not been researched yet can counteract this process. Technology can destroy the nature but also has a chance to save it.

2. Recovery by Cem Ünaldi

The project “Recovery” deals with the current issue of the deforestation of the tropical rainforest.
It has a significant and major impact on life on earth. It is not too late to change direction so that the rainforest can regenerate.

3. Countdown to Paradise by Tim Napiwotzki and Chooi Wen Long Sui

We decided to showcase our scene in an elevator. Each level depicts the same room in different stages of pollution. The baby mobile represents an ecosystem, in which pollution destroys the balance of nature. As time advances, the pollution decreases and the balance gets restored. According to how we as humans act, decides in which level we will live in the future.

4. GREED.exe by Luca Alessandro Dünkel

“GREED.exe is designed to show that there is no place in nature for our greed. A computer tries to load two different programms onto its system. The file GREED.exe fails due to human interaction and a crash occurs… A reboot is performed and a file called NATURE.exe is uploaded instead.

5. Finding Home by Nicole Klaus and Minh Tu Nguyen

“Finding Home” addresses the continuous problem of overwhelming plastic in oceans which makes it difficult for sea animals to differentiate prey from equal conspecifics. In our example, Jellyfish can’t identify themselves because plastic bags look just like them. After the pollution is removed, they find their way home to a clean and healthy ocean which is filled with colorful fish again.

6. Going Green by Christian Scherzer and Shaina Milde

Inspired by the green architecture of Singapore, we have decided to transform the Ten Square into such a building. Vines, as well as flowers symbolising themes like fresh starts or hope, grow within the building and it offers shelter to animals which are native to Singapore.

7. Project Recycle by Maximilian Hammelmann and Johannes Schmidl

We want to show how humans have polluted almost every place we have been to, from water all the way to space. We decided to show this because we want to give people a heads up. Our planet is important and we need to start thinking reliably and responsibly. Our movie follows a piece of space debris caused by the Kessler effect, on its way through the different areas humans have polluted, until it finally ends up in a big pile of trash. This shows our current way of handling garbage. We then want to leave with a message that this has to change. We have to start Recycling.

8. Augury by Ediz Mielke

My short film “Augury” is about envisioning different outcomes of the future inside of a crystal ball. As the first vision displays a dire future, the second one represents a more positive take and shows that no matter how bad the circumstances may seem, everything can always turn around to something more beautiful.

9. The Arbor Project by Lucas Ott and Markus Kenderes

Our goal was to symbolically represent generational responsibility and generational impact. To show this, we choose to portray a tree planted by the “”first”” generation and how it develops across numerous human generations, with just one of the subsequent generations benefiting from it.

1. A Second Chance by Benjamin Lim

This film is set in the year when humanity has reached a point of no return in climate change. We are then visited by a presence of a god-like entity, with the ability to control space and time. With this arrival, space and time begin to warp, reverting humanity back in time in response to our over-progression. Giving mankind a second chance, at a more sustainable future.

2. Utopia by Jonathan Tan

Utopia explores an alternative reality where humans are no longer habitants of this world. Nature is left to tend to herself. She heals while admiring the beauty around her. She attempts to make sense of what humans have left behind while restoring balance. The film takes you along a travels of the Sunseeker plane to find Utopia. While Utopia is a concept of perfection and the ideal, the idea of the journey and chasing our “Utopia” for Earth sets the foundation of the film, defining what tangled futures mean to me.

3. Mirror Realm by Belinda Yeo

Imagining how humans have shaped the world at the expense of many other species, perhaps if humanity refrained from encroaching on their lives, perhaps things might be a little better. What about a world untainted by the hands of humans? Returning to zero where lush forests were once abundant. The world we’re in is currently suffering, but it isn’t as if we can’t do anything about it. With technology, surely, we can fix things albeit it’ll look a little different. These fairly different worlds are all connected by a thread that humans have woven. The outcome depends on the hands of humanity.

4. Beautiful Chaos by Danielle Martinez

Beautiful Chaos represents the earth’s challenge of metal and other sorts of scraps, which if and when salvageable, can form and create beauty amidst the chaos humans has brought down upon the earth.

5. Deplete by Andronicus Koshy

A colourful world of resources slowly fades away. Water and limited land resources are under threat. For many people today, the unimaginable consequences of environmental destruction are already a reality. Can this be undone?

6. A Confession to The Nature by Kiyasatina Azib

Is a short 2D/3D motion graphics sequence that features the beauty of nature. For each frame in this short sequence, I would like to express and convey my feelings toward nature. Inspired by the quote, ‘’beauty in small things’’, I would like to show the beauty in nature but at the same time, subtly provoke the viewers to be more aware of the climate issues with some additional abstract sequences.

7. Restart by Leow Xuan Ying

In this ever changing, futuristic world, everything is possible. Can we reverse climate change before it is too late? Restart is a story about a desolated city where nature decides to regain its place in the world. This project explores the role of technology and urbanization in our lives, and the various possibilities in which it can be transformed for the better, to accommodate nature once again.

8. Variability by Chew Ziling

The oceans are highly vulnerable to incidents resulting in oil spills. What appears as the colorful shimmering glitter is oil floating on the water surface. Wind and currents spread it out and push it across the water, destroying both invisible and visible marine life in its path.

9. Pipe Dream by Rachel Lim

Mankind’s greed and selfishness had resulted in the severe depletion of natural resources which magnified the impacts of climate change to an alarming extent. ‘Pipe Dreams’ acts as a beacon of hope, where we can still potentially reverse these effects of climate change entirely, if only everyone worked together with that common goal to protect mother nature. Instead of living wilful ignorance and oblivion to the current situation. This is illustrated through the depiction of serene, ethereal landscapes to remind us of these tunning delicate beauty of nature that we need to protect for both the current and future generations to enjoy.
